Krypt Kiddies, the cuter than Hell demon babies, created by Rita and Ed Uhl are fast becoming one of the most popular horror collectables available.
Uhl House began producting Krypt Kiddies in 2002, and since then, the responce has been overwhelming, with more and more fans becoming addicted by the week.
Krypt Kiddies are handmade bundles of evil joy, created by Ed and Rita, they are made to fans specifications, with much time taken to create the detail and horrorfying beauty of each single Kiddie.

Ed and Rita recently granted an exclusive interview for their fans on the Krypt Kiddies and Dark Obsessions message boards. Administrator of Krypt Kiddies, OpheliaImmortal had the honour of "sitting" down with them, and here it is.!
Thank you for sitting down with an interview as you are both busy people. First question: where did the idea for Krypt Kiddies originally come from?
Rita: I was a vintage doll collector first. We started fixing them up and reselling them. Then I found something called reborning in 2001. Both of us being fans of horror, we decided that doing a Rosemary's Baby type doll would be interesting. So we put Adrian on ebay in Feb. 2002. We saw there was an interest, and the demon babies began!
When did you decide to move from selling solely on Ebay to taking custom orders?
Rita: We started receiving orders almost immediately, after we put up our website. Robin from Everlasting Impressions did a website for us to sell both Angels and Devils. We did find we liked doing the devils better, so I gradually stopped making the "nice" ones.
How many custom Kiddies do you think you've made since Adrian?
Rita: Hmmmm. probably close to 500.
What are some of the more complicated requests you've gotten for a handmade Kiddie?
Ed: Frank the skinless baby was very complicated. I used Rita's Anatomy book to do him.
Rita: Pinhead, Darth Maul, and anything that required duplicating tattoos. Oh, and then the tentacle headed baby and Medusa......I guess I could keep thinking.
What are some of your favourite handmade Kiddies so far?
Rita: Gabrielle, Nadine
Ed: Darth Maul, Pinhead, Frank.
Rita: Bijou, Ratboy, pouty mouths.
Ed: Green eyed ones, blue eyed ones.....brown eyed ones.
Rita: Any with blond, red, black or brown hair.
Ed: Bald.
Do ya get our drift? This is a hard question. They are like children.
Rita: I must admit, I am quite partial to our very first Jamie, though.
Last year, a line of exclusive Kiddies became avalible at Spencers gifts. Series two was made avalible this year. Do you have plans for the exclusive dolls to continue? Do you have any other plans for the KK line?
Ed: The retail Krypt Kiddies will be available through many retailers in 2006. We are awaiting our prototypes as this interview continues! And soon to be released are Bill Z. Bobblehead, and a few surprises!
Any hints for the 2006 line?
Ed: Gimme a K....gimme an R.....gimme a Y....that's it!
A year and a half ago, you started a Krypt Kiddies message board. How has this changed your interactions with fans? Has it changed the Krypt Kiddie business?
Rita: The board was started by a fan and later transferred to us, but the message board has helped us promote the dolls, brings people together....and shows us what people want. The best thing about the board, however, are the close friendships we have made there. There is not a day that goes by that I don't read posts! We consider our fans, our friends as well.....always will.
If a new fan came across Krypt Kiddies, how would they go about ordering a handmade?
Rita: Well, they usually email me and I have to tell them that we have a loooong waiting list. I hate to have to do it, but since the Kiddies take so long to make, it is very hard to keep up. We do 2 conventions a year as well, and with me in school, it gets tough.
Can you share some of your favourite horror movies?
Rita: My current favorite is The Exorcism of Emily Rose. It used to be The Exorcist, but I think this one wins. Ed: Along with The Exorcist, Dawn of the Dead, Jaws. Rita butts in: Oh and Carrie, The Shining......Ed: Salem's Lot, too!
Besides Emily Rose, any other recent horror movies you have enjoyed?
Rita: I liked Skeleton Key, and War of the Worlds.
Ed: Ring 2
Rita: Dead End
How do you celebrate Halloween?
Rita: We celebrate Halloween like this: We go to Chiller, Sell Kiddies, See all our beloved friends, Drink till the sun comes up.
And I sit in a chair with a hangover for a day.
Last question: Any final thoughts you'd like to share?
Rita: We would just like to thank all our friends and fans for everything. I am sure you have heard this at the end of every acceptance speech, but....if not for you guys, we wouldn't be here! We love you!
