It would be pretty silly of me to think I can explain the World of Asian Ball Jointed Dolls in detail here on one little webpage. The shapes, sizes, makes, designs, colors and all of those details differ greatly with each doll.
BJD's began around 30 years ago with the introduction of high quality and detailed dolls by Volks, a Japanese doll manufacturer that would later become famous for their release of Super Dollfies. Over the years since, many other companies have started and continued to make BJD's, the popularity rising as each year passes. Companies like Cerberus Project and Dream of Doll changed how people look at BJD's, adding more and more details and realism to them.
Although their not cheap by any means, the outstanding craftsmanship and quality base materials used to create these dolls makes it very much worthwhile for collectors across the Globe. Each of the BJD's is fully customisable to the owners design, although many owners find that their doll has a personality of its own. Many various designs of wigs, eyes, clothes and facial makeups are available and often custom made to fit the personality of the doll in question. This all adds up to OOAK (One Of A Kind) dolls, where the same facemould can look completely different.
